If you talk to my husband, he will tell you that I absolutely love decorating our house and changing things around just because. This is what makes seasonal decor my jam. It's such an easy way to do something new, but if you are like me, you don't want to spend a million years taking it down. This year, I've come up with a little system to make things easy peasy, but still look great and put together.
We have two main gathering areas in our house - the kitchen and the living room. I chose three different focal points (mantle, kitchen table, and living room couch) and decided to decorate those areas with something simple and leave it at that. This makes things less overwhelming on the front and back end.
Fresh flowers are my favorite thing of all time, and Trader Joe's has some of the best florals right now. I went and bought an already made bouquet along with one bunch of greenery. I went home, mixed it up a little and filled a ceramic carafe from Arrow + Sage and a bud vase from Moulton, and placed them on our table. I'm also a major sucker for candles (give me all the candles), so I added a little tea light holder. So simple, but so fresh and perfect for Spring.
Our mantle is one of the reasons we bought our house. It's completely stone along almost a whole wall in our living room. Because of this, it's one of the main focal points in our living room (and probably our whole house). To spice it up for Spring, all I did was add a few of these "blooming branches" (that's literally what the label said at Trader Joe's) in a vase I already had sitting on the mantle and created a little pink pop to our rather neutral mantle decor. You will learn that I love neutral things, but this year, with pink being such a popular color for interior design, I decided to give it a whirl.
The couch is probably one of the easiest place to give a little upgrade. I usually have a dark grey blanket on the back of our couch, and I switched it out with one of our lighter colored ones. Then I went to Target and bought a wonderful blush pillow (to match the mantle and the kitchen table), and I was done! Target has some pretty bomb - dot - com pillows and accessories for Spring right now.
So there you have it! Pretty easy peasy and a fresh look for the start of Spring. What are some ways you like to decorate your house for the Spring seasons?
