I had a whole different post planned for today, but since today is my official launch day (yay!), I thought it would be fitting if I shared my heart behind this blog.
Growing up, our house was kind of the “hang out” house - especially in high school. As I look back on those times, it wasn’t because our house was just this big, grand, house, it was because of the atmosphere, the warmth, and the immediate comfort that you felt when walking through the doors. Simply put, our house was a refuge for us and for others. My mom always had extra room at the dinner table for anyone who wanted to join, always had cookies or some delicious sweet for my friends and I, and always made our house nice and inviting for others. She also always, without fail, took the time to know us and our friends and anyone else who wandered in - loving them and caring for them personally.
I want that. I want our house to feel like a home - a refuge - for my husband and I, our future children, their friends, and our friends. I definitely believe that a lot of that happens with a loving and caring heart for others and a desire to know them and love them well. I also believe that making a house comfortable, inviting, and cooking for others is a way to care for them - and it’s something I find great joy in thanks to my mom.
So all of that said, my heart behind this blog is to bring inspiration to others through simple ideas for making a house comfortable as well as delicious recipes that you can cook for others or yourself. Simplicity is a key word for this blog - especially when it comes to home decor ideas. My goal isn’t for people to be running around constantly trying to make their home a better place, I want to provide simple inspiration so that you can make your home feel and look wonderful but also so you can have plenty of time to spend with those you love - interacting with them and loving them well through being present.
I’m so excited and passionate about this project. It holds such a dear place in my heart, and I can’t wait to inspire people to love and to create beautiful spaces and delicious food.
