We should be welcoming our sweet boy any day now! I'm currently 37 weeks and 4 days, and our boy is already more than big enough to come into the world! I think this waiting game is the hardest, but I've been in full nesting mode for a couple of weeks now, so I've been keeping busy getting things ready for Liam's arrival.
Liam's nursery is probably one of my favorite rooms in the house. It used to be our guest room (which you can see here!) and while we kept the paint color the same, everything else changed. When we first starting dreaming up the nursery my ideas were a little all over the place. I had so many differing ideas that I didn't even know where to being in putting together something cohesive. The only thing I knew for sure is that I wanted neutral tones (grays, whites, natural wood colors, and brass/gold). The first thing we were drawn to was the rocker (we actually got it on Overstock and is sold out now, but it's called the Baxton Studio Rocker and is sold other places as well). I was looking for something that would be comfortable but still stylish and I think this rocker is perfection. Since I've always loved natural fiber rugs, I picked out this one from West Elm (which is actually on sale right now!) and this "sheepskin" from Ikea to give Liam something soft to lay on. I also knew I wanted this dresser from Ikea because it would be big enough to hold all of Liam's clothes, diapering gear, blankets, etc. and double as a changing table. I simply switched out the knobs to make it more my style, and it fit in the room perfectly. The other major piece of furniture is obviously the crib. I went back and forth on what I wanted the crib to be like about a million times. I was searching on Pinterest one day and found this one at Walmart (yes, WALMART!) and absolutely loved it. I still can't believe it's from Walmart, you guys. It's super solid and sturdy and completes the room so well.
One thing I had also really wanted was a place to display some of Liam's cute little threads, and I also knew I wanted some shelves to put some little things on. I showed my dad a few inspiration photos, and we came up with the idea of having floating shelves with a clothing rack hanging from one of them. My dad and I spent an afternoon working on them together and they are probably my favorite thing in the whole room. We centered it over a little bookshelf and it's just the perfect little nook - and those baby clothes, y'all. Can't get enough.
I filled in some spaces with decorative things we already had (including a cute letter board from Letterfolk that I'm obsessed with), and the finishing touches were the wall hangings. I had made a wooden bead garland for my Fall decor and repurposed it by hanging it above the dresser/changing table. I also had recently stumbled upon The Animal Print Shop and completely fell in love with their little baby animal headshots, so I put 4 of them above Liam's crib.
Despite having way too many ideas at the beginning of planning the nursery, I'm so so happy with how everything came together. I'm excited to see Liam sleep and play in this room and rock him in that comfy rocking chair. Our little guy can't come fast enough. We are ready for you, little man!
