Our master suite is probably my favorite spot in the house. I feel like every part of our house was a labor of love, but none quite like our master suite. The master suite is the only thing upstairs, so it's already kind of a little getaway for us at the end of the day. When we completely renovated it almost 2 years ago, we wanted it to be a space where we could come and relax and a place we wanted to be in.
Prior to the renovations, this room looked like it hadn't been touched since the 80s. It had the original "builder's beige" walls and some pretty gross carpet (the bathroom was a whole other 80s disaster which I will talk about in a later post). What I do love about this room is that it's big (just a little smaller than our garage, actually). So when designing this room and choosing what I wanted in it, I felt like I had a big, clean, rectangular slate. Since this room is pretty long, we decided on putting the bed in the middle with a seating area on one side and a little vanity area on the other. We painted the walls grey with a geometric accent wall, and put in some hardwood floors, new baseboards, and then decorated the room in our usual mid-mod fashion.
I love this room. I love that it's a space where the hubs and I can go and relax at the end of the day. We can shut the door and be away from the rest of the house in our own little oasis. It's like our little safe place, and that's exactly what we wanted!
